This is a yard flooded by groundwater. I will show you what we've done to it
When a plumber tells you that you've got a broken sewer line out in the yard this is what he means
These are pictures of a leaky toilet unattended you can see how bad it looks once the toilet is taking up molded rotted getting ready to fall through into the basement
If a plumber tries to clean your main line out and has no luck, it's because your line is completely bound up solid and the clay tile will need to be cut and replaced with PVC or clean it out for 6 or 8 hours straight
And when you do this you run the risk of pushing all of the clog out into the yard where you may end up needing excavator like the one shown here
Installing new sump pump units are always a must for houses to have a high water table it will let you avoid losing precious items in your basement due to flooding we also recommend a battery backup unit installed as well
Anytime you have a new hot water tank installed make sure that a qualified plumber installs 3/4 brass ball valves for you as well to isolate the tank for the future
If there's any of you out there who have to work like a dog every day like I do start them out early and maybe you won't have to pay for college
Plumbing is a family affair but Church comes first.
We do this process to keep the water away from the house on the discharge line because in theory it is illegal to run sump pump water into the main sewer line (at least it is in our district).
Just one of the old Treasures you can find in a hundred-year-old basement while you're doing a main water line.
When you've got clay sewer system which is roughly 1940's into 1960s until this new black plastic came out called ABS (which was all the Rave in 1960s and 1970s), clay tile tends to fail. When you join two pieces together it is bonded by a concrete bail around it. The concrete starts to dissipate after years and get spider web cracks in it; Once it starts dropping off the pipes, it allows roots to enter the system or starts to settle and crushes against itself (hence the phrase "crushed tiles in your yard").
Consider upgrading the water line service at the exact same time to avoid future excavation work. We can't speak for any other companies but for The Drain Doctor we insist on making the yard presentable to the public while also having it mounted up in a manner that will settle back into place and not leave a big cavity hole in your yard.
We put the fence back same day so dirt may have to be added directly under the fence - customer agreed to have the fence put back so therefore liability is lifted.
